Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and Jingyuan county in Gansu province announced on Monday the establishment of dedicated task forces to probe the matter.
Officials in Golmud stated that the findings of the investigation, along with details on the case management, will be promptly released to the public.
"Individuals found guilty of these crimes will face strict legal consequences."
The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
