Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and Jingyuan county in Gansu province announced on Monday that they have established dedicated task forces to probe into the matter.
"Golmud officials have stated that the findings of the investigation and the handling of the case will be disclosed promptly."
"Perpetrators of the crimes will face strict penalties as prescribed by law."
The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
