Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and in Jingyuan county, Gansu province, announced on Monday the formation of dedicated investigative teams to probe the matter.
"Golmud officials have stated that the findings of the investigation and the management of the case will be disclosed to the public promptly."
"Authorities will impose strict penalties on those found guilty of the crimes, in accordance with the law."
The food safety committee in Jingyuan issued a comparable announcement.
