China Launches Investigations into Alleged Goji Berry Contamination and Illegal Additive Use
Chinese authorities to probe allegations of tainted goji berries
National media reveals illegal substances used to enhance appearance and longevity of the berries
Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and in Jingyuan county of Gansu province announced on Monday the formation of dedicated task forces to probe into the matter.
"Golmud officials have stated that the findings of the investigation and the management of the case will be disclosed promptly."
"Individuals accountable for the crimes will face strict penalties under the law."
The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
