Brad Binder Provides Insight on KTM’s Radical 2025 MotoGP Prototype After Misano Test
Brad Binder shares his initial thoughts on the 2025 KTM MotoGP prototype
"It's significantly distinct from our current model"
Brad Binder remarked that the 2025 KTM MotoGP prototype he rode at Misano the previous Monday exhibited significant variations from the brand's existing model.
The rider from South Africa, who has committed to stay with KTM until the conclusion of 2026, experienced his initial trial with the 2025 prototype motorcycle that Pol Espargaro piloted as a wildcard entry in the Grand Prix events in Austria and San Marino.
The prototype RC16 made waves for its innovative rear aerodynamics, but it also seems to feature an updated engine that utilizes a unique firing order compared to the existing version.
Binder and his upcoming teammate, Pedro Acosta, had the opportunity to test the bike during the post-San Marino GP session. Binder shared his thoughts on it before the upcoming Emilia Romagna GP this weekend.
"Indeed, it was notably distinct from our current models," he remarked about the 2025 RC16.
"Undoubtedly, there are numerous minor aspects that still require adjustments."
"The first impression was favorable and quite impressive."
"Indeed, I believe that KTM, collectively, performed admirably during the trial, with each rider examining various distinct elements."
"Thus, we've amassed a significant amount of fresh insights from our experiments, which we plan to collectively leverage to accelerate the progress of our project as swiftly as we can."
Binder delivered an impressive performance at the San Marino GP, securing a fourth-place finish in the grand prix after qualifying sixth.
The test session on Monday following the race gave KTM the opportunity to concentrate on strategies for improvement ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, also taking place at Misano. Binder is optimistic that he'll be "beginning from a significantly better position than previously."
"Absolutely intend to," he responded when inquired about the possibility of narrowing the gap with the Ducatis this weekend.
Certainly, we get each weekend off. However, it felt unusual this Thursday, given that you've been around for a few weeks already.
"Overall, it's been a great experience. We managed to cover everything on our list for the test, all the activities throughout the race weekend, aiming to capture all the top moments wherever possible."
"Definitely, we're kicking off the weekend on a higher note than our previous experience here."
"I'm eager to see how we handle things and hopefully, we'll be able to compete more closely at the top."
