Aston Martin Poised to Revamp F1 Tech Team for Adrian Newey Amidst Growing Speculation
Aston Martin is willing to modify its organization to make room for Adrian Newey. "We possess a robust framework and are expanding our infrastructure. It's a privilege to be associated with such a renowned name."
Aston Martin's leader, Mike Krack, has admitted that his team will need to put in work to modify and blend their F1 technical setup to make space for Adrian Newey.
Since the announcement of Newey's exit from Red Bull before the Miami Grand Prix earlier this year, there have been strong rumors connecting him with Aston Martin.
In the initial months of 2025, Newey is set to depart from Red Bull, paving the way for potential involvement with a different Formula 1 squad.
It appears that Aston Martin has emerged as the frontrunner to secure Newey, surpassing Ferrari in the process.
Italian media outlets have reported that billionaire Lawrence Stroll, owner of Aston Martin, has extended a substantial proposal to Newey to become part of his team.
Stroll has demonstrated his ambitious vision for the team through the establishment of a remarkable headquarters at Silverstone, alongside attracting top-tier talent in F1 such as former Mercedes leader Andy Cowell.
During a press conference at the Dutch Grand Prix on Friday, which included representatives from Crash.net, Krack responded to inquiries regarding the recent rumors about Newey.
"During the summer break, I was away on vacation, so I'm not in a position to discuss that. Our team is increasingly becoming appealing," Krack mentioned during the FIA press conference.
"We possess a solid framework and are in the process of enhancing our infrastructure. It's a privilege to be associated with that esteemed name."
Aston Martin boasts a comprehensive technical crew, among them is ex-Red Bull aerodynamics head, Dan Fallows.
In response to inquiries about integrating Newey into Aston Martin's technical team, Krack stated: "For an individual of that caliber, it's imperative to make every possible adjustment and change within your framework to fully utilize their capabilities."
The team based in Silverstone has witnessed an incredible change under Stroll's guidance.
Stroll assumed control of the team during its Force India phase, a period when it was among the smallest squads in the competition, consistently achieving results that surpassed expectations given its limited budget.
Krack acknowledged that the developments in recent years have put Aston Martin in a place where they can align with someone as ambitious as Newey.
"When I became a part of it, I entered the ancient brick building that used to be the Jordan factory, and as you move from the A43 into Silverstone, it's evident how dramatically it has transformed," he elaborated.
"Thus, when seen from this perspective, it's an entirely distinct framework, an entirely distinct group."
"The number of team members has nearly doubled recently. Coupled with our drive and everything we invest in our infrastructure, I believe this positions us as highly appealing for what lies ahead."
