Yamaha’s Long Road to Recovery: Years of Effort Ahead Despite Aggressive Revival Strategy
Yamaha found unprepared and cautioned recovery "will span years"
"Once regulations shift, Yamaha will rise again."
Yamaha has been cautioned that their comeback to the pinnacle of MotoGP won’t be a quick solution.
The performance of the Japanese manufacturer has sharply deteriorated since Fabio Quartararo secured the championship in 2021.
Recent communications from Yamaha have been optimistic, highlighted by their procurement of the Pramac satellite team for 2025, which is considered a significant advantage for their development.
"Neil Hodgson from TNT Sports mentioned, 'Their efforts are commendable, yet it's expected to be a long journey spanning several years.'"
Gavin Emmett commented on Paolo Pavesio, the newly appointed managing director, stating, "He's an excellent choice for involvement. His communication skills are impressive."
"The commitment and strategy are in place for both Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller."
Hodgson commended Yamaha, stating, "They're on the right track. They're making efforts to recover from previous setbacks and lost opportunities, which is a process that will span over years."
"There's nothing more they can do at this point, and it's truly remarkable. They're going all out, embracing an incredibly positive approach."
In discussions with Cal Crutchlow, both recorded and informal, stretching back to his racing days, it was evident they were not fully attentive or proactive.
"However, they've made their move. I doubt they'll have any significant involvement next year, considering what they're planning to offer."
"However, once the regulations are altered, Yamaha will return. They are destined to secure victories in MotoGP championships, without a doubt."
Michael Laverty stated, "All the advancements being made for the 1000cc era will carry over."
Several manufacturers gained insight when they transitioned to 800cc, making significant alterations – Ducati gained an advantage, while Honda constructed a motorcycle. The strategy proved ineffective for all involved.
"The bicycles are set to have a slimmer design, which contrasts with their current broader build, enhancing safety. However, this design change won't happen immediately, as the existing model will remain for another two years."
Motorsport has revealed that Yamaha plans to switch from their inline-four engine to a V4 configuration in 2027.
Pramac, their latest satellite squad, has announced that Oliveira will be joining them for the upcoming season. They plan to announce Miller as his team partner.
