### Verstappen Reflects on Norris Clash: “We’ll Talk About It” After Austrian Grand Prix Drama
Will Max Verstappen say sorry for the incident with Lando Norris? "We'll discuss it."
"Definitely, we'll discuss it. It's regrettable that it occurred."
Max Verstappen mentioned that he needs to revisit the incident involving Lando Norris before deciding whether to apologize to the McLaren driver for their collision at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Verstappen and Norris crashed into each other as they neared Turn 3 during Lap 64 of the race.
It seemed that Verstappen moved a bit to the left while braking, which put him in Norris' way.
Both vehicles suffered tire punctures after the collision and slowly made their way back to the pit lane.
Norris had to withdraw from the race because of severe damage, whereas Verstappen secured a fifth-place finish.
In an interview with Sky Sports following the race, Verstappen was questioned about whether he would issue an apology to Norris.
He responded by saying, "I need to review the circumstances of our contact. Naturally, we will discuss it. It's regrettable that this incident occurred."
Verstappen also rejected the notion that he is facing more pressure than ever before.
“No, I’ve been through numerous conflicts throughout my career,” he mentioned.
Verstappen received a 10-second penalty for his involvement in the incident.
Verstappen appeared to contest the decision and the idea that he altered his position while braking.
He clarified that it can be difficult for others to tell when he is braking from an external perspective. In the past, he acknowledged that this has often been a point of contention. He mentioned that he typically turns his steering wheel before applying the brakes, allowing him to brake in a straight line.
"It's often simple for outsiders to claim that I'm braking while moving. However, the person behind the wheel understands their actions the most. People are entitled to their opinions, but ultimately, I'm the one driving and have the best control."
“It’s simple to criticize and offer opinions. But it doesn’t really matter.”
The tension between the two competitors had been escalating until their pivotal confrontation on Lap 64.
Norris made several bold attempts to overtake at Turn 3, even forcing Verstappen off the track at one point.
When asked about the fairness of the race, Verstappen commented, "There were moments when he made aggressive moves, and you could see that he occasionally went straight while braking. I had to steer clear to avoid a collision."
“I believe the design of the corner contributes to these problems. It's always unfortunate when collisions happen.”
During the initial portion of the race, Verstappen had a smooth run, maintaining a lead of more than six seconds ahead of Norris.
A sluggish pit stop and a subsequent lock-up at Turn 4 set him back.
Consequently, Verstappen expressed his dissatisfaction with the team for making "too many mistakes."
"We made numerous mistakes," he stated. "From our strategy to the poor pit stops. Consequently, we ended up in this situation. That's the most frustrating part—it was our own doing."
“The initial phase went well but it progressively deteriorated. We need to examine the vehicle…”
