Valtteri Bottas Tipped as Top Choice for Haas in 2025 Amidst Midfield Shuffle
Valtteri Bottas is seen as a highly competitive candidate for a position with a Formula 1 midfield team in 2025.
Valtteri Bottas is being viewed as a highly competitive candidate for a seat with Haas in the 2025 Formula 1 championship.
Based on insights from F1's Lawrence Barretto, Haas has placed Bottas at the top of their priority list for the upcoming season, as they explore alternatives beyond Kevin Magnussen.
According to the report, Magnussen has fallen lower in the team's ranking of drivers for the upcoming year, due to the abundance of drivers capable of winning races currently available.
Another aspect working against Magnussen is the quantity of super licence points he has accumulated this year.
The Danish racer is facing the risk of being barred from competition following a series of problematic events at the beginning of the season.
Oliver Bearman is poised to take over from Nico Hulkenberg, making his full debut in the 2025 season, solidifying his position as Hulkenberg's successor.
Bearman had an impressive performance at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, securing a significant points finish while filling in for Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari team.
Haas is eager to pair Bearman with a seasoned, successful driver, and Bottas meets that criteria.
Bottas is not only remarkably fast, but he has consistently shown a strong sense of teamwork, making him the ideal candidate to provide Bearman with the guidance required for a newcomer.
Bottas isn't the sole candidate under consideration by Haas.
Esteban Ocon continues to be in the running for the seat, particularly since his connection with Alpine seems uncertain following the events at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Likewise, if he chooses to depart, Alpine colleague Pierre Gasly continues to be a consideration.
At present, it appears that Ocon is more inclined to switch teams compared to Gasly, with Audi being discussed as a potential new team for the ex-Mercedes reserve driver.
