Valtteri Bottas in Limbo: Uncertain F1 Future Amidst Waiting Game for 2025 Season
Valtteri Bottas admits uncertainty about his F1 career, stating, "The situation can get quite anxious"
"However, we're still in a period of waiting. I don't have a definitive response."
Valtteri Bottas remains uncertain about his team affiliation for the 2025 Formula 1 season, lacking a definitive response.
Bottas' career prospects remain uncertain as he anticipates Carlos Sainz's choice.
The driver, who has secured victory in 10 Formula 1 races, is primarily considered a contender for a spot at Williams. Additionally, there's a possibility of him remaining with Sauber or transferring to Alpine.
Ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, with Crash.net in attendance, Bottas candidly expressed that he remains in anticipation of updates.
“Possibly holding out for Carlos, but it's uncertain,” commented Bottas. “At a certain stage, I believe not everyone will continue to wait for him. However, I'm still anticipating something.”
When questioned about his astonishment that matters were prolonged, Bottas responded, "That's an excellent inquiry. To be frank, I had anticipated that everything would be settled before this weekend, especially since we had a weekend break," he continued. "However, we're still in a position where we need to wait a while longer. I can't provide a definitive answer.
"Clearly, I'm reaching a stage where, I hope, in the near future, as is well known, if the situation extends to the August break, or beyond it, it might begin to get quite stressful."
Bottas is still willing to stay with Sauber despite their lack of enthusiasm about keeping him.
Sauber, set to become Audi in 2026, has already secured Nico Hulkenberg as a signee.
The German team has placed Sainz at the forefront of their desired drivers, along with a number of others who have been mentioned as potential candidates in the past few months.
Regarding Sauber, he mentioned, "Absolutely. I believe that possibility remains on the table. It's definitely a component of the industry."
"Additionally, I aim to be in a setting where I am respected, where everyone recognizes my potential and contributions to the team."
Bottas and the Sauber team have experienced a disappointing season, not managing to secure even one point in the first 12 races.
Nonetheless, the team from Switzerland has implemented several improvements to Bottas' vehicle for this weekend's race in Hungary.
