Tragedy Strikes Eastern China: 11 Dead as School Bus Plows into Crowd
Five children and six adults have lost their lives in eastern China when a bus plowed into a group of people outside a school. The incident, which also left many injured, resulted in the detention of the bus driver by authorities. This tragic event occurred just days after national media detailed new policies aimed at protecting students.
On Tuesday morning, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State-owned CCTV reported that the accident happened at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are currently stable. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
According to police, the vehicle involved was a school bus assigned to transport students. It veered off course while nearing an intersection and collided with a group of people. Authorities have since taken the driver into custody and an investigation into the incident is underway.
