### “Rising Tensions: Ocon and Gasly’s Alpine Battles Spark ‘Personal’ Concerns Amidst Team Dynamics Debate
Esteban Ocon is concerned about being seen as a "team player" as tensions rise.
"There have been a few too many incidents lately. It makes you wonder, 'is this personal?'"
Questions have been raised about whether the dynamic between Esteban Ocon and his Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly is becoming “personal”.
Alpine announced that Ocon will leave the team when his contract expires this year. This decision comes after the F1 Monaco Grand Prix, where Ocon upset his team by colliding with Gasly.
However, in Austria last weekend, the two Alpine drivers had intense battles on several occasions, ultimately resulting in Gasly securing 10th place and Ocon finishing in 12th.
After the race, Gasly paused to think about his reply and then told Sky Sports, "Having a little more space would benefit everyone. I have control over my car, not the other one…"
"This is Formula 1, after all. I understand that it's always going to involve tough competition."
Gasly was pleased with how Alpine managed their competition on the track: "I felt good about it. I asked them to let me handle the situation. I just needed to figure out how to overtake him."
"Occasionally, it's beneficial. We'll evaluate it once the race concludes."
Ocon replied by saying, "It was a typical race. Everything went well. It was challenging but fair competition."
Ocon has yet to announce his plans for next season following his departure from Alpine.
However, Sky Sports reporter Naomi Schiff speculated that Esteban Ocon's readiness to compete against his own teammates might discourage team managers from choosing him. Ocon has previously angered Pierre Gasly's former teammate, Fernando Alonso.
"It was a hectic weekend for him," Schiff remarked.
"In hindsight, during the qualifying session, it seemed as if there was an intentional effort to hinder his teammate, especially considering how pressed they were for time."
"The conflicts they experienced in that place…"
"Currently, he doesn't have a team to drive for. It's unclear what actions he's taking to demonstrate to other teams in the paddock that he is a valuable team player and is fully committed to contributing to the team's success."
“It seemed like Pierre and Esteban had successfully maintained their relationship up to this moment.
“It now seems to be becoming a personal matter.
"We can only observe from an external perspective. We don't have all the details. However, there have been several incidents, and it's becoming too frequent. It makes you wonder if it's something personal."
"You observe how he interacts with Fernando Alonso and conclude, 'that's simply his racing style…'"
