Norris and Piastri Secure McLaren 1-2 in Thrilling Belgian GP Second Practice Session
Lando Norris leads the way in a McLaren one-two finish during the second practice session at the Belgian Grand Prix, with teammate Oscar Piastri coming in second.
In the second practice session at the F1 Belgian Grand Prix, Lando Norris was ahead of his McLaren colleague Oscar Piastri.
On the soft tyres, his fastest lap was clocked at 1 minute 42.260 seconds, outpacing the Hungarian Grand Prix champion Piastri by 0.215 seconds, with Max Verstappen trailing closely by an additional 0.002 seconds.
The driver from Red Bull led the initial practice session at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. However, he will incur a 10-place penalty for the upcoming Sunday's grand prix due to the installation of a new engine that surpasses his season's quota of power units.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished fifth and sixth respectively, lagging behind the leading pace set by Norris. George Russell secured the seventh position, trailing by a whole second in his Mercedes.
Having sat out the majority of FP1 because of a problem with his vehicle, Esteban Ocon of Alpine managed to clock in an impressive lap, securing the seventh position, just in front of Kevin Magnussen from Haas.
Sergio Perez secured the ninth position, trailing behind his teammate Verstappen by a second, as Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top ten for Mercedes, lagging two tenths behind his teammate Russell.
