Lawrence Stroll Dodges Newey Signing Question During Brundle’s F1 Grid Walk at Dutch GP
During Martin Brundle's grid walk, Lawrence Stroll was questioned regarding Adrian Newey's commencement.
"When is Adrian Newey joining your team?"
At the F1 Dutch Grand Prix, Lawrence Stroll was taken by surprise with a question regarding the acquisition of Adrian Newey.
During his signature grid walk, Sky Sports presenter Martin Brundle confronted the head of Aston Martin.
Following an inquiry into Stroll's team's prospects at Zandvoort, Brundle sneakily introduced a question concerning Newey.
Brundle inquired, "When will Adrian Newey begin his tenure with you?"
Stroll clarified, "I never stated that Adrian Newey was joining me."
With a grin, Brundle responded, "Actually, you didn't, no. That was quite bold!"
The future prospects of Newey are a major subject of discussion in the F1 racing community.
The automotive design mastermind and present CTO at Red Bull is set to leave the team he became a part of in 2005, at the beginning of the upcoming year.
At 65 years old, Newey has the freedom to sign with a different Formula 1 team if he desires to continue his illustrious career.
The significance of his joining lies in the potential impact Newey may have on the 2026 vehicle of the team he joins next, potentially boosting their prospects for the new era of Formula 1 that will begin with the changes in engine regulations.
Aston Martin and Ferrari are the teams primarily associated with potentially bringing on Newey.
McLaren, the team once associated with Newey, has officially removed themselves from contention.
Wealthy sports franchise owner Stroll has openly expressed his goals within Formula 1.
Securing two-time champion Fernando Alonso and extending his contract to keep him at the helm of the team was a significant achievement.
Aston Martin is inaugurating a new headquarters at Silverstone.
In 2026, they plan to collaborate with Honda on a new engine project.
Aston Martin has brought on board Dan Fallows, previously with Red Bull alongside Newey, and has also recently added Enrico Cardile from Ferrari to their technical team.
At Zandvoort, inquiries were also made to team principal Mike Krack regarding Newey.
Krack acknowledged that Aston Martin needs to make changes to their setup in order to fully leverage the talents of a respected figure such as Newey.
However, it remains unclear which destination Newey will choose.
