Lando Norris Vows to “Reset” After Series of “Stupid Mistakes” Compromise F1 Performance
Lando Norris acknowledges the necessity for a fresh approach following a series of "foolish errors" and "poor beginnings" in recent Formula 1 competitions.
"I've lost a significant number of points in the past three to four races due to silly errors, mishaps, and unfavorable starts."
Lando Norris has emphasized the importance of a "reset" amid F1's summer hiatus after facing challenges at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Norris veered off track by himself during the initial lap of Sunday's race at Spa-Francorchamps.
His most recent error resulted in him dropping several places on the first lap, leaving him at a disadvantage.
Norris ultimately lost to his top F1 competitor, Max Verstappen, despite Verstappen beginning the race in 11th place due to a penalty for an engine issue.
Commenting on his performance, Norris expressed at Spa, in an area where Crash.net was onsite: “Overtaking was simply unattainable. “I believe there were minimal on-track passing maneuvers, with the majority happening during pit stops.
"Several passing maneuvers occurred, though they mainly happened when there was a significant 10-lap tire benefit. Apart from that, it was quite challenging to overtake. I had the impression that we had speed; the car performed well."
Norris has experienced setbacks at the start of a race before this season, and Belgium was not his first instance.
His sluggish start resulted in him conceding the victory to Oscar Piastri in Hungary.
Likewise in Barcelona, he dropped two positions at the start of the race.
Norris acknowledges that he simply has to "start afresh" for the latter half of the year.
"I need a fresh start. I've lost many points in the recent three or four races due to foolish errors, missteps, and poor beginnings," he continued.
"During the first turn, I aimed to avoid any issues, ensuring I didn't collide with anything, but then I ended up veering off the track. It was a series of foolish mistakes."
"I miscalculated the situation; I aimed to avoid being overtaken in the first turn, so I maintained a distance but failed to accurately judge the exit."
"The team's performance is impressive, and they're really excelling. I'm quite pleased; it's as if I don't even want to pause since we're performing so well. Even [on Sunday], we maintained a strong momentum."
"In the past couple of races, things haven't really come together for me as they should have, resulting in a significant loss of points."
