### Joan Mir Sidelined from Friday Practice at Misano MotoGP Due to Severe Gastroenteritis
Joan Mir will miss Friday's practice session at the Misano MotoGP
'Joan Mir won't participate in today's events because he is still suffering from severe gastroenteritis'
Joan Mir from Repsol Honda will miss Friday's practice session for the San Marino MotoGP held in Misano.
The 2020 world champion, who was absent from Thursday's media engagements because of illness, will also miss both Friday sessions as he is still suffering from severe gastroenteritis.
Repsol Honda mentioned that they will evaluate his condition again at a later time.
Joan Mir's absence from Friday's practice means he won't be able to match Johann Zarco's achievement at Aragon of securing direct entry to Qualifying 2, a milestone that no Honda rider has reached this season.
However, the time Mir lost in practice will be somewhat compensated for by the insights gained during recent private testing at the circuit.
Following this weekend's events, MotoGP will remain at Misano for a testing session on Monday, during which HRC plans to test significant upgrades. The series will then come back for another 'Emilia Romagna' round from September 20-22.
Mir holds the 21st position in the world championship standings, trailing by three spots and three points from Takaaki Nakagami (LCR), the highest-ranked Honda rider.
