Honor Dethrones Samsung to Become Top Foldable Smartphone Brand in Western Europe
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. The offshoot of Huawei achieved this feat for the first time in Western Europe, which ranks second after China in terms of the largest foldable phone market.
Honor, a smartphone brand from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to claim the top spot as the leading producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per information from the industry advisory firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, became the top player in the foldable handset market in the second quarter for the first time. According to a recent report by Counterpoint, Western Europe, which follows China as the second biggest market for foldable phones, has become a competitive arena for various companies including Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google.
Honor, that introduced its widely acclaimed book-like Magic V2 beyond China's borders in the previous September, witnessed a whopping increase of 455 per cent in its worldwide foldable deliveries in the second quarter, marking the most significant annual growth compared to other brands, as indicated in the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei maintained its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone sector for two consecutive quarters, largely due to its strong sales in China, as per a separate report from Counterpoint.
