Honda Faces Scrutiny at Misano Test: Joan Mir Voices Concerns, Teammates Offer Glimmers of Hope
Honda faces criticism at Misano test: “I anticipated better results”
Joan Mir comments, "I thought this test would yield more"
Joan Mir has expressed a disgruntled opinion regarding Honda's performance during the Misano test.
The RC213V riders had a checklist that included a fresh fairing, which resembles Ducati’s, along with updates to the chassis and new aerodynamic features.
However, Mir from Repsol Honda was displeased.
“We attempted aerodynamic adjustments and revisited strategies from our prior test that hadn’t been successful,” Mir stated.
"I had anticipated better results from this exam."
"To properly attempt methods that were failing and to experiment with additional approaches."
“They did excellent work on the aerodynamics, but we saw no improvement during the race."
"I anticipated much more."
"I'm somewhat concerned because the upcoming test in Valencia will determine the outcome for the next year."
"We are quite distant from having a functioning production line and a concept for developing a competitive bike for the upcoming year. We have a long way to go."
"We must put in more effort to speed up the evolution process."
Mir pointed out the only benefit from the single-day test: "The aerodynamic features can help improve cornering speed in fast turns."
"It's a minor adjustment that makes a significant difference. This was particularly beneficial at this circuit, specifically at Turn 11."
"The performance of the wheelie showed a minor improvement."
"I'm pleased about this, but I'm let down by the other aspect."
Nevertheless, fellow team member Luca Marini expressed optimism: "We did notice the changes that Honda implemented here, and I am hopeful that my input can guide them in making future decisions."
"We've identified some encouraging aspects that will benefit us not only in the long term but also in the upcoming races."
LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco shared some encouraging remarks just a day after stating that the “project is completely ineffective”.
After a day of testing, Zarco emphasized, "I believe we've gained a better understanding of several aspects."
