Helmut Marko Slams Lando Norris’ ‘Pathetic’ Radio Complaints During Verstappen Duel at Austrian GP
Helmut Marko criticizes Lando Norris for "pathetic" radio complaints during the Max Verstappen duel
Helmut Marko did not appreciate Lando Norris' conduct over the team radio.
Red Bull's Formula 1 advisor, Helmut Marko, has labeled Lando Norris' radio grievances during the Austrian Grand Prix as "pathetic."
Lando Norris and Max Verstappen competed fiercely for the top position during the race at the Red Bull Ring on Sunday.
Before their collision at Turn 3, Norris had made several bold and aggressive overtakes.
During the defensive maneuver, Verstappen slightly altered his trajectory while braking, prompting Norris to voice his concerns over the team radio.
Norris urged the F1 stewards to penalize Verstappen for his defense, especially since he believed the Dutchman kept his lead by driving off the track.
Marko was not pleased with Norris's reaction on the team radio.
Marko expressed to OE24 that he found Norris's behavior on the radio to be pathetic.
"Situations like this occur, and I would categorize it as a racing mishap, though it's probable that Norris exceeded his boundaries."
Another aspect of the incident is the strong bond between the two individuals.
After the race, Norris implied that his relationship with Verstappen might be at risk unless Verstappen offers an apology or owns up to the incident.
Marko believes that Norris suggesting Verstappen should say sorry is not beneficial to the situation.
Norris suggesting that Max should apologize isn't very constructive. However, he mentioned that they will have a conversation.
"Usually, they travel as a pair, but on this occasion, they went their separate ways. As a result, Max had a peaceful flight back."
