LBC radio host Iain Dale has declared his resignation to pursue a candidacy in the upcoming general election scheduled for July 4.
Sky News has learned that Dale, aged 61, is seeking to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Tunbridge Wells.
He had previously attempted to secure a parliamentary seat during the 2005 elections, but was unsuccessful in North Norfolk.
During a live broadcast on LBC Tuesday evening, the broadcaster declared his intention to run again in the upcoming general election, stating, "I am throwing my hat back in the ring to be a candidate."
"No matter the outcome, I believe I can contribute to rebuilding integrity and trust within the political sphere."
"I'm aware there's no certainty that I'll be chosen, or even win, yet I'd always regret it if I didn't at least try."
Dale expressed that his life goals included becoming a radio host and a Member of Parliament.
"He emphasized the significance of politics in his life."
He admitted that his previous attempt at running for office in 2005 was unsuccessful, remarking, "The last time I tried, the voters resisted."
