Could this be the moment when Nigel Farage's Reform UK movement started to unravel? It seems likely.
The day started with dreadful news headlines and concluded with a heated debate on racism within his party, facing a confrontational television crowd.
Breaking News: Insights into the Reform UK Racism Controversy
It's possible, indeed, that the escalating scandal regarding racism arrived too late to halt the Farage-led surge poised to overpower the Conservatives.
This is due to the fact that approximately 25% of voters are expected to use mail-in ballots in this election, with many having already submitted theirs.
Moreover, Mr. Farage thrives on controversy and delights in playing the role of a rebel who challenges the establishment and traditional political norms.
The day began unfavorably for him, even considering his usual controversies, as The Daily Telegraph's headline on the front page proclaimed: "Sunak labels Farage a Putin appeaser."

The Times featured a particularly sensational headline – "Reform advocate suggests shooting illegal migrants" and reported that the party was dealing with allegations of pervasive sexist and racist conduct among its electoral candidates.
It has been disclosed that one of the candidates was previously affiliated with the British National Party, while another described feminism as a "cancer," and a third alleged that two black women were "acting like gutter sluts."
However, more severe incidents were yet to unfold. In a Channel 4 documentary, a supporter of Reform UK, Andrew Parker, was captured on tape using a racial slur to describe Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, referring to him as "an effing P***."
During a campaign stop in Teesside, Mr. Sunak displayed a level of anger rarely seen during his 20-month tenure as Prime Minister, according to observers.
Visibly furious, he described how his two daughters were subjected to hearing Farage supporters verbally abuse him, using the slur "an effing P***," which left him feeling enraged.
The incident was remarkable for two main reasons: firstly, he discussed the emotional pain his daughters, who are 13 and 11 years old, experienced due to racial insults, and secondly, he opted to echo the derogatory term used.

The accusation of appeasement directed at Mr. Farage was initially leveled by Mr. Sunak last week, following Mr. Farage's televised statement that the West had incited Vladimir Putin to attack Ukraine.
Up until that point, the Prime Minister and top Conservative members had mostly ignored Mr. Farage throughout the election period, even though Reform UK was steadily gaining traction in the polls, cutting into the Conservative's support.
Mr. Sunak was clearly upset in his reaction to the Channel 4 show, and Mr. Farage was equally incensed, asserting during a midday slot on ITV's Loose Women—indeed, he was—that it was "an utter setup."
Amid the controversy, Essex Police intervened, stating they were "quickly evaluating" Mr. Parker's remarks "to determine if any criminal offenses have been committed."
Alas, yet another police investigation coincides with the election campaign. Combined with the gambling investigation, law enforcement officers have their hands full in the closing week of the campaign!
On a subsequent appearance on BBC TV's Question Time, Mr. Farage reiterated his claim, alleging that Mr. Parker was an actor who had previously been employed by Channel 4, and he condemned what he described as a "remarkably extensive political scheme."
Channel 4 strongly contested Mr. Farage's allegations of a "set-up," maintaining that their first encounter with Mr. Parker occurred at the Reform UK headquarters, where he was actively involved as a canvasser for the Reform party.

His participation in Question Time began contentiously as he faced allegations of extreme racism. In his defense, he asserted that he played a key role in eliminating the British National Party from the UK political scene.
Confronted with inquiries regarding the selection of candidates who made racist comments, Mr. Farage seemed to place the blame on his former colleague, Richard Tice.
He described inheriting what he called a "start-up party", though he didn't specifically name Mr. Tice. The crowd found humor when he responded to a question about their candidacy process by saying, "I have no idea!"
During his questioning, Mr. Farage remained stubbornly unapologetic. "I'm not going to apologise!" he loudly declared at one moment.
However, he adopted a defensive posture, as the initial 11 minutes of the thirty-minute show were dominated by inquiries about racism.
However, by the conclusion of the event, attendees were affectionately referring to him as "Nigel." As the discussion shifted to topics like immigration, Brexit, taxation, and Donald Trump, the intensity of the scrutiny he faced diminished.
Despite the troubling allegations of racism that have embroiled his party, Nigel Farage's campaign might still remain intact.
As we approach the last week of the election campaign, the momentum appears increasingly unstable and uncertain.
