The European Parliament is providing support across Europe for coverage of the European Elections taking place from June 6-9. Throughout the election period, reporters will also have the opportunity to report directly from the Parliament.

The focal point is the election night on Sunday, June 9th, during which the preliminary election results will be announced. However, media representatives are also welcome at the European Parliament before and after this key event.

Daily media briefings on election days

The parliamentary press service will organize briefings (less than three, meaning "confidential") for the media, available both in-person and remotely via Interactio, to provide insights into the European elections, including useful statistics and information about the Parliament.

Journalists will receive detailed information on the methodology used by the European Parliament (EP) to estimate election outcomes, actions taken to ensure the integrity of the European Election, and key political events following the election. The EP's press service will also provide updates on the transition to the next legislative term, including upcoming legislative tasks, the election of the next President of the Commission, and the process for appointing the new Commission members.

Preliminary election results announced on Sunday, June 9

Preliminary outcomes of the European election can only be disclosed after 11:00 PM, following the closure of the final polling stations in Italy. Until that time, the Parliament will release estimates based on pre- and post-election surveys.

On election night, starting at 5:30 PM, EbS will broadcast a special program, which will also be streamed through the Parliament’s Multimedia Center and will include, among other features:

Updated forecasts will be provided once the parliamentary services receive information from national authorities. The most recent updated estimate is anticipated around 1:00 AM on Monday, June 10th.

The leaders of the European Parliament's factions along with the leading contenders for the presidency of the European Commission will address the media later this evening. On the main website dedicated to the outcomes, there are also individual pages for each EU member state, providing details on the European election process, the party lists, the candidates, and the outcomes of past elections.

Accreditation and Entry on Election Night

Alle Medienvertreter, die eine interinstitutionelle Akkreditierung der EU besitzen, sowie Inhaber einer Jahresakkreditierung des Europäischen Parlaments (EP) können die Räumlichkeiten des Parlaments betreten, indem sie einfach ihren Akkreditierungsausweis vorzeigen, ohne eine zusätzliche Akkreditierung vorlegen zu müssen.

Every journalist seeking access to the Parliament is required to apply for a temporary accreditation via the online accreditation system (JOUREG). For those already holding an EP badge, it will be remotely activated once the accreditation request is approved through the portal. Reporters who do not have an EP media badge can collect it from the accreditation center located in front of the Parliament (Esplanade Solidarność, Office 01F035) once their application is approved through JOUREG.

Only media representatives who have been assigned a seat in the plenary hall are permitted to work from that location. The meeting room located in front of the plenary hall (room 3C050 in the SPAAK building) will also be set up as a workspace for the press. Furthermore, journalists have the option to work from the press room situated on the ground floor of the SPAAK building.

Parking Options

On the evening of the election, journalists can park at the Parliament's parking lot for free, provided they show a valid press ID at the entrance. There's no need to use the IZIX-App, which is typically employed during regular parliamentary sessions.
