End of an Era: Honda and Repsol Conclude Historic 30-Year MotoGP Partnership
Alberto Puig comments on Honda's separation from their sponsor Repsol
The 30-year partnership that achieved remarkable success is coming to an end
Alberto Puig from Honda has honored outgoing sponsor Repsol, asserting that their joint accomplishments will be remembered in MotoGP history.
The partnership between Repsol and Honda, which involved Repsol as the main sponsor, is set to conclude by the close of this year.
A collaboration spanning three decades, which created many unforgettable MotoGP moments, is coming to a close.
Repsol Honda clinched fifteen riders' championships with some of the most renowned riders in the sport, including Mick Doohan, Alex Criville, Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner, and Marc Marquez.
Team manager Puig commented that he believed both companies performed excellently.
"This partnership proved to be highly successful for three decades."
"Numerous championships, evident superiority in the sport over an extended period."
"They created an excellent product for Honda motorcycles, and in turn, Honda manufactured outstanding bikes for Repsol to demonstrate its capabilities."
"It was a strong partnership, but, as with many things in life, it eventually concluded."
"Each company holds a great deal of respect for one another."
"Each company deeply appreciates the hard work and dedication shown throughout this extended endeavor."
“Speaking from Honda’s perspective, we are pleased and would like to express our gratitude.
"The championships and wins we secured as a team will endure in the annals of motorsport history."
Honda has encountered difficulties recently, and the separation from Repsol seemed certain, especially after the title sponsor's visibility on the motorcycle was significantly diminished at the beginning of this year.
Honda has gone three years without a grand prix victory and suffered a significant setback when Marquez moved to Gresini Ducati.
At the moment, they are positioned in 11th place, which is the lowest rank in the team standings
Repsol, on the other hand, has not specified if they will back another MotoGP team.
