Driven by Determination: Jorge Martin’s Quest to Prove Ducati Wrong and Lead Aprilia to Glory
Jorge Martin is "driven to prove that Ducati's decision was a mistake"
Paolo Campinoti discloses the motivation behind Jorge Martin's determination
Jorge Martin is driven, in part, by a desire to demonstrate that Ducati made a mistake by not selecting him for their factory team.
It seemed certain that Martin would secure a promotion to the official Ducati team for the 2025 season, until Marc Marquez declared that he would not move to Pramac.
In the end, Ducati chose Marquez, while Martin has secured a deal with Aprilia for the upcoming season.
“He may appear to have a strong personality, but he’s actually a very kind and pleasant person,” Pramac owner Paolo Campinoti stated to TNT Sports.
"He’s a great individual, deeply dedicated and driven to prove that Ducati made a mistake by choosing Marc!"
Martin might still be able to claim the top position from Ducati and hand it over to their competitors, Aprilia, in the coming year.
At present, he is at the top of the MotoGP standings, holding a slim lead of seven points over Pecco Bagnaia and a more substantial 53-point advantage over Marquez.
Martin’s triumph in the sprint race at Misano last week has set a high standard for the upcoming event at the same track next weekend.
"It was crucial," Campinoti acknowledged. "Jorge consistently led but hadn't managed to secure a victory in the recent races."
"His self-assurance allowed him to demonstrate to both himself and others that he remains present."
The aim was to strike Bagnaia.
Neil Hodgson from TNT Sports shared his analysis, stating, "Pecco is essentially at home here. He's extremely familiar with the track, has incredible speed, demonstrated strong race pace, began from pole position, and was undoubtedly the top contender."
"Of all the places to snatch a victory from him, Martin managed to do it here."
“He dominated the race. He took the lead immediately and maintained it throughout. The race lacked excitement because Martin performed flawlessly.”
"I saw a rider taking corners with such deep braking that it reminded me of a world champion’s performance."
