Chinese AI Powerhouse MiniMax Launches Video-01: A Text-to-Video Tool Set to Rival OpenAI’s Sora
The Chinese AI powerhouse MiniMax has introduced a text-to-video creation model, positioning it as a competitor to OpenAI’s Sora. The initial version of this tool, named Video-01, resembles Sora, and there are anticipated updates that will allow users to create videos from pictures.
Video-01 provides the functionality for a user to enter a text description to produce a video that can be up to six seconds long. The whole procedure from inputting the text to creating the video typically takes around two minutes.
Yan Junjie, the CEO and creator of MiniMax, announced during the event that video-01 is the company's premier version of their video creation tool. He highlighted that upcoming versions will allow users to create videos using pictures and to modify these videos, as per regional news coverage.
