Max Verstappen dismisses potential negative reaction from fans
Max Verstappen has downplayed worries about a possible negative response from British supporters at Silverstone after his contentious incident with local favorite Lando Norris during the recent race in Austria.
When questioned about whether being booed this weekend would upset him, the Dutch driver—who has previously faced cold receptions at Silverstone because of his intense competition with Hamilton—responded, “I’ve experienced that before, you know?”
“My main concern is the performance. Now that everything has been resolved, which is what matters most to me, we can proceed.”
Oliver Bearman has revealed his chosen race number for his upcoming full-time F1 debut with Haas next season, opting for the number 87 on his car.
Bearman explained to reporters, including those from Crash.net, that he has always used this particular number in his races. He mentioned that his father also raced with the same number, as it holds personal significance: Bearman was born on May 8th, and his brother on August 7th. Hence, the number 87 was chosen and will remain his preferred number.
Carlos Sainz Firm on Racing Regulations Being 'Sufficiently Clear'
Ferrari's Carlos Sainz asserts that the existing F1 racing regulations are "sufficiently clear" amidst the ongoing discussion in the paddock about the incident between Verstappen and Norris in Austria.
Carlos Sainz expressed his opinion that it is evident a driver can move to defend their position and then return to their original line, as long as they always leave enough space for another car. He emphasized the importance of leaving one car's width to the white line to accommodate the other vehicle. Sainz also conveyed his frustration with the continuous addition of regulations to the racing aspect of the sport.
“There are already a lot of regulations in place. If you look at the rulebook, it outlines what actions you need to take when overtaking on the inside, defending on the inside, attacking from the outside, and defending from the outside.”
"It's a whole array of highly detailed and specific regulations that I find difficult to adhere to while driving at 300 kph. You can't focus on all those rules at that speed. I would prefer not to have any additional rules. The existing rules are already clear. The stewards have already made a decision. There's really nothing more to discuss."
Andy Cowell Joining Highlights Aston Martin's Attractiveness to Skilled Professionals
Fernando Alonso asserts that Andy Cowell’s decision to join Aston Martin underscores the team's status as an "exciting project" and a highly attractive place for talented individuals.
"Each visit I make to use the simulator reveals more progress; the structures for buildings two and three are almost complete, and the wind tunnel is expected by the end of the year," Alonso remarked. "This development is undoubtedly appealing to numerous individuals in the paddock and to many top-notch engineers."
In recent weeks, there has been significant speculation that Aston Martin is pursuing Red Bull's departing designer, Adrian Newey.
Oscar Piastri "Certainly a Contender for Victory"
McLaren's Oscar Piastri is optimistic about his chances to compete alongside his teammate Norris for a potential win at this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
"The Australian driver mentioned that their car has been highly competitive over the past three months. He noted that there have been several close calls and chances, though not a definitive moment where victory seemed certain. However, he emphasized that they have consistently been contenders for a while now."
Alex Albon remarked that he would be disappointed to receive the same penalty as Max Verstappen. Albon expressed that the controversial incident involving Verstappen and Norris was exaggerated and described it as aggressive but fundamentally just tough racing.
The Williams driver mentioned that he would be "disappointed" to face the same 10-second time penalty that Verstappen got when Crash.net inquired if he thought the penalty was too severe.
