Set to debut in 2025, the Polestar 3 can accommodate five passengers and excels in both ride quality and construction when compared to the Tesla Model Y Performance. However, given its price exceeds the Tesla's by over $25,000 before accounting for potential tax credits, one would expect such superiority. During an initial test drive, Green Car Reports praised the vehicle for having some of the most comfortable seats available in cars today, though they noted that the user interface could be challenging to navigate, with its faint fonts and steering wheel controls.

The federal government released new fleet efficiency regulations for the years 2027 to 2031 on Friday, setting less stringent mileage requirements for trucks and SUVs. The updated rules now anticipate an average fleet efficiency of approximately 38 miles per gallon in real-world conditions, a decrease from the initially proposed 43.5 mpg in July 2023. Additionally, a recent postponement in updating the efficiency calculations for electric vehicles compared to gasoline-powered models could potentially allow automakers to meet these targets with fewer electric vehicles.

Last week, Virginia's Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that the state will not adhere to California's latest emission standards, which also means Virginia will not implement California's electric vehicle (EV) mandates or set goals for EV sales. This shift means that Virginia will not pursue the requirement that 35% of new vehicles sold be electric by 2026, potentially leading to an increase in the number of less fuel-efficient vehicles available at the state's car dealerships.
