Audi’s Model Offensive: The A5 Marks the Next Step Towards Electrification and Efficiency
Audi CEO Announces: A5 Represents Next Phase in Model Expansion
Sneak peek at the new mid-range vehicle and a glimpse into the future…
Audi is making a bold move, akin to switching to the fast lane on Germany's highways, as part of their strategic model rollout. The automaker from Ingolstadt plans to launch over 20 new models in 2024 and 2025. Out of these, more than ten will be fully electric.
The Audi Q6 e-tron was the first to launch this spring. Next week, the campaign is set to continue with the introduction of the new Audi A5, which we have glimpsed here as the RS 5 Avant.

Audi’s CEO Gernot Döllner announces, "The upcoming unveiling of the new Audi A5 lineup on July 16 marks the launch of a new era for combustion engines, which will be enhanced with electric components for even greater driving efficiency."
The head of Audi has presented a sneak peek of the upcoming A5 model. The Avant's lighting signature features the familiar dynamic, slender strip that extends across the entire rear, which has been kept under wraps even in our less camouflaged spy shots.
Just to clarify, the A5 isn't a continuation of the sporty convertible and coupe models, but rather the combustion engine successor to the A4. Going forward, Audi's naming convention will use even numbers to denote fully electric vehicles, while models with traditional fuel engines will switch to odd numbers.

Döllner previews the future plans to gradually increase the selection of electric vehicles. However, he also indicates that they intend to update the range of traditional combustion engines: "This approach ensures that we are both strong and adaptable during the transition to an entirely electric lineup."
Following the global debut of the A5, Audi is set to unveil the A6 e-tron at the end of July, marking a significant leap forward. "The A6 e-tron is the initial electric model from Audi that will be available to our customers in both Sportback and Avant versions right from its launch," Döllner explains. "With its distinctive design, exceptional performance, efficiency, and range, this vehicle offers numerous compelling reasons to make the switch to electric mobility now."
Additional information about Audi
Come autumn, the third iteration of the Audi Q5 will be released. This model, which stands as Ingolstadt's most popular SUV, is set to kick off the revamping of their SUV lineup with traditional combustion engines and partially electrified options.
Audi is on a mission to revamp its longstanding and distinctive slogan "Vorsprung durch Technik" for the modern age. According to Döllner, the manufacturer has a clear vision for reinterpreting the iconic phrase. The emphasis will be on design, user interface and user experience, driving dynamics, and efficiency. The upcoming models – Q6 e-tron, A6 e-tron, A5, and Q5 – will showcase the direction Audi is taking.
