**”Alex Marquez Denies Deliberate Collision in Aragon MotoGP Incident: ‘It’s Not in My DNA'”**
Alex Marquez clarifies: “I would never intentionally collide with another racer”
Alex Marquez dismisses claims that he 'intentionally' collided with Francesco Bagnaia, stating: 'It's against my principles and the principles of this sport'
Alex Marquez has issued a statement after coming across several remarks following his incident with Francesco Bagnaia during Sunday's Aragon MotoGP race.
The two riders experienced a severe crash when Bagnaia tried to overtake the Gresini racer for the third position, following Marquez's wide turn.
The FIM Stewards concluded that no additional measures were required because they found that neither rider was mainly at fault.
However, Marquez appears displeased with Bagnaia's remarks, which imply that the Gresini racer maintained his throttle position instead of steering clear of a collision.
Bagnaia mentioned to MotoGP.com that as he approached the next corner, which was turn 13, he could hear the other rider accelerating. It was clear to him that the rider was trying to make contact.
"I wanted to examine that information… He kept the throttle open between 40 and 60 percent right up to the moment of the crash. This seems very unusual for a rider, in my opinion."
On Monday, Marquez shared a post on social media:
“Having reviewed several statements, I want to clarify the following points:
"I would never intentionally collide with another racer, and I refuse to be accused of doing so. Such behavior goes against my principles and the essence of this sport."
"The conversation I had with Pecco yesterday was the most crucial aspect for me, and as far as I'm concerned, the matter is now resolved."
"At this point, I need to take some time off to recuperate and ensure I'm fully fit for Misano."
Marquez and Bagnaia were lucky to escape without major injuries and are set to return to the track at Misano this weekend.
Alex's teammate and sibling, Marc Marquez, secured victory in the Aragon race. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin's second-place finish has extended his lead over Bagnaia to 23 points.
