Max Verstappen dismisses potential backlash from fans
Max Verstappen has dismissed worries about potential criticism from British fans at Silverstone, following his contentious incident with local favorite Lando Norris during the previous race in Austria.
When questioned about whether being booed this weekend would trouble him, the Dutch driver, who has previously faced chilly receptions at Silverstone owing to his intense competition with Hamilton, responded, “I’ve experienced that before, you know?”
"I concentrate solely on the performance. The situation has been resolved, which is what matters most to me, and we proceed from here."
Oliver Bearman reveals his chosen F1 race number
Oliver Bearman has announced that he will be using the number 87 on his car for his first full season in Formula 1 next year with the Haas team.
Bearman explained to the press, including Crash.net, that he has always competed with this number. He mentioned that his father also used it because Bearman was born on May 8th and his brother on August 7th. Therefore, 87 became their preferred number and will remain so.
Carlos Sainz insists that the existing racing regulations in Formula 1 are sufficiently clear. The Ferrari driver shared his view amidst the lively discussions in the paddock regarding the recent incident between Verstappen and Norris in Austria.
Carlos Sainz expressed his opinion, stating that it is evident a driver can switch to a defensive position and then return, but must always leave enough space for another car, about one car's width, up to the white line. He emphasized that this is the rule, and he finds it challenging that more regulations keep being added to the racing aspect.
"There are already numerous guidelines outlined in the rulebook. It specifies the requirements for overtaking on the inside, defending from the inside, attacking from the outside, and defending from the outside."
"It's a completely distinct set of regulations that are incredibly detailed and specific, which I find challenging to adhere to precisely while driving at 300 kilometers per hour. At that speed, it's impossible to focus on all those rules. To put it simply, I don't want any additional regulations. The current rules are sufficiently clear. A decision has already been made by the stewards, and there's really nothing more to discuss."
Andy Cowell's recruitment indicates Aston Martin's strong attraction for skilled professionals.
Fernando Alonso asserts that Andy Cowell joining the team highlights Aston Martin as an "extremely thrilling project" and a highly "desirable" place for talented individuals.
“Each time I visit for the simulator, I notice it's expanding more and more. Buildings two and three are almost complete, and the wind tunnel is expected by the end of the year,” Alonso remarked. “This undoubtedly appeals to many in the paddock, including top-notch engineers.”
In recent weeks, there has been significant speculation about Aston Martin potentially recruiting Adrian Newey, the departing designer from Red Bull.
Oscar Piastri "Surely a Contender for Victory"
McLaren driver Oscar Piastri believes he can compete alongside his teammate Norris for a win at the upcoming British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend.
The Australian driver mentioned that their car has been highly competitive over the past three months. He noted that there have been several close calls and chances, though no straightforward opportunities for an easy win. However, he emphasized that they have consistently been contenders for a while now.
Alex Albon expressed that he would be disappointed to receive the same penalty as Max Verstappen. Albon commented that the controversial incident involving Verstappen and Norris was exaggerated and described it as aggressive yet essentially fair and intense competition.
The Williams driver expressed that he would be "disappointed" to receive the same 10-second penalty that Verstappen got, when questioned by Crash.net about whether he considered the penalty to be severe.
