The global debut of the new A5, succeeding the former A4 series, has garnered significant attention. Now, the complete pricing details are available, and through the online configurator, there's a preview of the entry-level model in the 4.83-meter-long series.

We opted for the Audi A5 Avant as it has been the more popular option, especially for fleet sales. The A5 Sedan, while attractive, is cheaper by 1,650 euros, with prices starting at 45,200 euros. The Avant, on the other hand, begins at 46,850 euros. That's a hefty increase from the old A4, by almost 5,000 euros! However, the price hike seems less dramatic when compared to the previous A5 Sportback. Still, it's important to consider what comes standard with the new A5.

It's uncertain if less powerful variants will expand the A5 lineup. It's possible that models priced below 40,000 euros might be left to the VW Passat Variant/Skoda Superb Combi duo within the corporate family. However, for the diesel option, we anticipate the addition of an engine in the popular 150 horsepower range.

Let's circle back to the standard model of the new Audi A5 Avant. The two non-metallic colors available at no extra charge are "Arkonaweiß" (as shown in our pictures) and "Magnetgrau". Opting for a metallic finish will set you back an additional 930 euros, and the "Ascariblau" hue is even pricier at 1,400 euros. Both the estate and saloon versions come equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels and 225/55 R17 tires as standard. A roof rack is a given with the Avant model, along with LED tail lights and full LED headlights. According to the extensive 150-page price list, additional features for the latter can be activated online "on demand".

What else is included in the price? Fabric-covered seats, with an additional charge of 765 Euros for electric adjustment, and 2,685 Euros for leather. A double-spoke leather steering wheel equipped with multifunction buttons and paddle shifters, standard with the A5's 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. A single-zone automatic climate control, front seat heating, an electrically operated tailgate, and rear parking assistance are also part of the package.

The basic model of the Audi A5 comes without a passenger display in the cockpit.

The standard cockpit comes equipped with a digital ensemble featuring an 11.9-inch screen for instruments and a 14.5-inch touchscreen for navigation, which is included as standard. The additional passenger display is available exclusively with the Tech-Plus package, priced at 6,130 euros. Observing the interior without this extra (as seen in the prior press images), certainly draws interest. It almost feels like Audi is pushing customers to purchase the display, as the space looks somewhat odd without it. For those interested, there's also an option to add apple tree wood decorative inlays for an extra charge.

A range of technology packages are available, priced from €3,780 to €8,950. For an extra €2,100, there's the option of a panoramic glass roof. A towing hitch can be added for €1,100, supporting a towing capacity of 2,000 kg on the TDI Quattro with 204 horsepower, and 2,100 kg on the S5 model.

When the market launch takes place in November 2024, there will be an "Edition One" available for both A5 and S5 models. For the A5, this special edition will cost an extra approximately 8,000 Euros, while for the S5, the increase is slightly more modest at just over 1,500 Euros. The edition one is a sporty equipment package that features magnesium gray accents, enhancing the exterior with well-coordinated design elements.

The vehicle features an S line exterior design, complemented by a black exterior package with magnesium gray highlights. It is equipped with 5 double-V spoke wheels in graphite gray with a glossy finish, sized 8.0 J x 19, and fitted with 245/40 R 19 tires (though this may vary depending on the market). The car boasts advanced LED headlights and rear lights, which include dynamic lighting effects and flashing indicators. Additionally, the car includes a technology package, an S-sport suspension system, and an Audi sound system.

You can opt for the exterior in a range of colors including Magnet Gray, Mythos Black Metallic, Glacier White Metallic, Ascari Blue Metallic, or Firmament Blue Metallic.
