V12 Triumphs Again: The Astonishing Return of the Aston Martin Vanquish 2025
The upcoming 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish: V12 Engine Still Thriving
Its stunning carbon fiber body turns heads wherever it goes
For some enthusiasts, nothing beats the allure of a V12 engine. Despite the DB12's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine delivering a robust 680 horsepower and an impressive sound, for them, it falls short due to its fewer cylinders. Hence, Aston Martin is reviving one of the automotive world's most iconic names with a V12 engine: the Vanquish.
Following a six-year hiatus and an unsuccessful endeavor to construct a mid-engine supercar, the Aston Martin Vanquish has made a comeback, reverting to its original grand tourer (GT) essence. This audaciously sizeable and opulent GT vehicle is equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, delivering an impressive 835 horsepower and capable of reaching top speeds of 345 km/h.

The engine maintains the same basic dimensions as the existing Aston V12 but has undergone significant revisions compared to its predecessor. To enhance both power and torque – a staggering 1,000 Newton-meters – while also meeting increasingly stringent emission standards, the V12 is outfitted with a new block, heads, ports, camshafts, connecting rods, turbochargers, injectors, and repositioned spark plugs. Essentially, it's a complete overhaul. Aston claims the engine is unrecognizable from the old one.
Similar to the previous DBS Superleggera, the engine is paired with a rear-mounted eight-speed automatic transmission, yet like the latest Vantage and the DB12, it comes equipped with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
With an output of 160 horsepower per liter, this engine boasts the greatest power density ever achieved by an Aston Martin V12 unit. The Vanquish 2024 represents the pinnacle of ongoing advancement. Since the launch of the DB7 Vantage in 1999, the performance and torque of Aston Martin's V12 leading models have doubled.

The latest V12 engine comes packed with advanced features, such as a fortified cylinder block and connecting rods, redesigned cylinder heads with reshaped camshafts, and new intake and exhaust ports. The repositioned spark plugs and newly engineered fuel injectors with a higher flow rate enhance combustion, leading to unmatched power and increased efficiency. Additionally, the engine boasts new turbochargers that operate at higher speeds and have less inertia, contributing to greater power output and more responsive acceleration.
The latest turbochargers have been upgraded to have a lower inertia and increased rotational speed by 15%, enhancing energy extraction from exhaust gases, boosting engine performance, and elevating the new V12 engine to unprecedented levels of power. Additionally, the installation of new fuel injectors with a 10% higher flow rate allows the engine to achieve its maximum power while also meeting emission standards.
The engine also introduces a new feature called Boost Reserve, which allows for an increase in turbo pressure beyond what's needed for partial throttle, ensuring that the driver has immediate access to more power when needed. This is achieved through precise coordination between the throttle and the electronic wastegate. According to Aston Martin, the final drive ratio has been selected to facilitate a top speed, while still providing potent acceleration – achieving 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Like all modern Aston Martins, the Vanquish features a bonded and extruded aluminum monocoque chassis. However, unlike the DB12 and Vantage, its body is primarily composed of carbon fiber. Aston Martin states that the Vanquish has a dry weight of 1,774 kilograms. The tires are a custom-made set of Pirelli P-Zeros, with dimensions of 275/35 at the front and 325/30 at the rear. The vehicle also comes standard with forged wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes, which help to minimize unsprung weight.
Moreover, the Vanquish is equipped with sophisticated suspension technology. It incorporates Bilstein DTX dampers, similar to those found in the new Vantage and DB12, and features a six-axis inertial measurement unit for more accurate control of the dampers, electronic differential, and traction/stability control systems. Additionally, there's an innovative feature called Corner Braking, designed to maintain rear stability when braking into a turn.
Inside, the Vanquish mirrors recent Aston Martin designs, featuring an updated central console packed with tactile controls and a custom-built entertainment system. Previous models from Aston Martin faced backlash for their unimpressive interiors, but the Vanquish's cabin appears to be anything but lackluster.
When placed side by side with the DB12, the Vanquish showcases its larger dimensions—it stretches out longer, spreads wider, and hunkers down lower. Its wheelbase extends nearly eight centimeters beyond that of the DB12, its total length swells by 16.5 centimeters, and its width expands by over six centimeters. However, its stature is reduced due to a decrease in height. The Vanquish undoubtedly bears the Aston signature look, but it features a more sculpted bonnet at the front and pronounced bulges at the rear.
The sharply terminating rear fin is a distinctive feature among the latest Aston Martins, drawing inspiration from a series of vehicles that the company raced with at Le Mans during the 1960s: the DP212, DP214, and DP215. The silhouette and rear of the car also bear resemblance to the restricted Valour model, which in turn harks back to the robust GT models Aston produced in the 1970s. This marks only the third instance of Aston Martin deploying the Vanquish nameplate.
The presence of V12 engines can still be found here as well.
Aston Martin has yet to disclose the cost of their latest Vanquish model, but expectations suggest a price tag ranging from 250,000 to 300,000 Euros. The premium over the rest of the series can be attributed to its limited production, with the firm aiming to manufacture a mere 1,000 units annually. Customers can anticipate the commencement of deliveries as early as October 2024.
