**”Ricciardo Apologizes After Hulkenberg Clash at Monza; Tsunoda’s Frustration as RB’s Italian GP Unravels”**
Daniel Ricciardo comments on collision with Nico Hulkenberg: “I believed there was enough room; I said sorry”
Daniel Ricciardo addresses the incident involving Haas at the F1 Italian Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he apologized to Nico Hulkenberg after they collided on the first lap during the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Red Bull's Ricciardo and Hulkenberg clashed at Turn 8 while competing in the midfield during the first lap of Sunday's race at Monza.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed he had enough room, but then experienced a collision, causing Hulkenberg's Haas to be pushed onto the dirt and allowing Kevin Magnussen to overtake him.
The Australian driver received a five-second penalty for the incident. However, he was later required to serve a 10-second penalty because one of his mechanics touched his car while he was serving the initial penalty during his pit stop.
Ricciardo finished a challenging race at his home event for the Red Bull team in 13th place.
“In the end, we just didn’t have the speed today, even without considering the penalties,” he stated.
"We gave it a shot, and I was having fun with the close racing at the beginning, but I collided with Nico at Turn 8."
"After the race, I had a conversation with him. I believed there was enough space, but I felt the impact and realized I hadn't given him sufficient room, so I apologized."
"It's challenging because you give it your all, but even the tiniest details can have a big impact."
"The vehicle performed adequately afterward, and we exerted maximum effort with the resources available. From Friday afternoon until today, I aimed to extract the utmost performance from the car."
"From my perspective, I’m feeling much improved this weekend, and we nearly earned some points."
Tsunoda's Disappointment
According to Laurent Mekies from RB, the Italian Grand Prix was heavily influenced by Hulkenberg. An incident between Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda resulted in the Japanese driver's race coming to an early end.
"I'm quite frustrated; it's disappointing that my race ended a few laps in because of a collision with Nico," Tsunoda stated.
"I attempted to give him as much room as I could, but it appeared that he froze, lost control, and collided with me."
“Regrettably, we had to withdraw the car from the race due to damage sustained on the floor.”
“I noticed it immediately and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was slipping all over and I just couldn’t control it.”
"We're heading to Baku and Singapore next, and our car is expected to do well on those tracks, so we're optimistic about having strong weekends coming up."
Mekies is upset about the Tsunoda incident because it caused him to lose important time on the track with the new RB car that was brought to Monza.
"Today's race was largely influenced by Hulkenberg. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Subsequently, Nico collided with Yuki, which resulted in us having to retire the car," he stated.
"The most exasperating part of Yuki retiring is missing out on 40 laps that could have deepened our knowledge of the new updates we brought to this event."
"Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty because we didn't properly carry out the initial penalty."
“We need to reassess our protocols in this situation and take lessons from the error made today. Although incidents like this occur, our pit crew's performance has largely been outstanding this season.”
