Quartararo’s Italian MotoGP Nightmare: Arm Issues Derail Race for 2021 Champion
Fabio Quartararo described the Italian MotoGP as a disastrous event, stating that he faced difficulties with his arm. He explained, "The race was incredibly challenging, particularly from a physical perspective. My arm was problematic, making it difficult for me to ride effectively during the final ten laps."
Fabio Quartararo dropped to 18th place in the Italian MotoGP, struggling significantly during the last ten laps.
A weekend that was already challenging for the 2021 world champion took a turn for the worse during the grand prix when he started experiencing arm pain.
Having previously claimed victory at this circuit with Yamaha, Quartararo found himself finishing last weekend’s race a staggering 30 seconds behind the winner, Francesco Bagnaia.
"The race was extremely challenging, particularly in terms of physical demands," Quartararo stated. "I experienced problems with my arm, which made it difficult for me to ride effectively during the last ten laps."
"It's not arm pump; it's just that my arm reaches its limit on tracks like this. It's a shame we couldn't go faster."
"We anticipated better performance in this race. We face difficulties when the grip is insufficient. We are hopeful that we can come up with a solution to improve the bike’s handling."
"We've scheduled some activities for tomorrow's test to address one of our less strong areas. If it proves beneficial here, I believe it will also enhance the physical aspect of riding."
Although Alex Rins was able to secure a single point for Yamaha, he also fell back from his initial tenth place starting spot.
By the conclusion of the race, Rins had fallen to 15th place and later confessed that his performance did not meet his expectations.
Rins commented: "This definitely wasn't the race I had hoped for. I gave it my all to secure 15th place."
"I had difficulty throughout the entire race right from the start. However, I did make some progress at the beginning compared to yesterday; this time, I only dropped two positions."
"Gradually, with each lap, I attempted to maintain my position. I focused on handling the bike and managing my physical state, as riding our bike is currently quite challenging."
"However, we view these races as opportunities to evaluate ourselves. They are special occasions for us to measure our skills against other competitors and gather valuable insights."
