Pramac’s Future Hangs in Balance: Ducati or Yamaha in High Stakes Satellite Team Showdown
The contest to align Pramac as an affiliate team sees another shift
Newest developments in the ongoing struggle to secure Pramac's allegiance
A fresh development has emerged in the competition among manufacturers to secure a deal with Pramac.
The satellite crew is in discussions to either remain with Ducati or transfer to Yamaha.
"According to Sky Italia, emanating from the French MotoGP paddock in Le Mans, Paolo Campinoti's Prima Pramac squad is more likely to extend its partnership with Ducati than it was just a fortnight ago."
"Even though Yamaha made a significant proposal."
Pramac's existing agreement with Ducati contains a provision that permits them to automatically renew their collaboration for an additional two years.
By triggering this provision, they would maintain the ability to use two motorcycles built to factory specifications.
However, the monetary incentives offered by Yamaha present a tempting option.
Before the French MotoGP, Italian media reported that Pramac plans to delay their decision until July 31st, which is the last day they can either choose to activate or disregard their contractual clause.
Their choice will significantly influence the roster of riders for the 2025 MotoGP season.
The choice between GP25 Ducatis or Yamahas as the bikes Pramac fields is significantly important to the racers considering representing them.
The competition for the 2025 Ducati factory team spot among Marc Marquez, Enea Bastianini, and Jorge Martin will become even more crucial if Pramac ends its partnership with Ducati, as this would essentially eliminate a backup option.
Pramac's decision to stick with Ducati and operate bikes of factory specification provides the Italian brand additional flexibility in the rider market.
