MotoGP 2025 Rider Market Awaits Ducati’s Decision on Bagnaia’s Teammate: Brivio Highlights Stalemate
Brivio: The MotoGP rider marketplace is in a holdup awaiting Ducati's decision
Competition squads are on standby for Ducati's verdict regarding who will join Francesco Bagnaia as his teammate for the 2025 MotoGP season.
Davide Brivio anticipates that the 2025 MotoGP rider lineup will remain unchanged until the official Ducati squad selects a partner for Francesco Bagnaia.
The principal of the Trackhouse team clarified that although 'there's communication among all parties,' the market remains 'immobile' until the choice, seemingly a direct competition between Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez, is finalized.
The destiny of Enea Bastianini, who is presently Bagnaia's teammate, hangs in the balance, with competitors potentially eyeing the riders who are left without a spot.
"Everything is on hold until the factory squads, beginning with Ducati, decide on their next steps," Brivio explained to MotoGP.com, indicating a busy period ahead.
"Consequently, there will be riders left feeling disheartened, who may then seek opportunities with a different manufacturer's team."
"After the formation of the factory teams is complete, several riders will inevitably be left feeling let down!"
Currently, patience is required. Furthermore, it's essential to grasp the desires of both Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez.
"Everyone is in conversation with each other, yet there's no progress at the moment."
Brivio suggested that while Aprilia's satellite team is strongly rumored to acquire Joe Roberts, a prominent American Moto2 rider, Trackhouse may also consider pursuing a well-known MotoGP rider.
"Brivio mentioned, "Our goal is to contend for the top spots. Thus, our focus isn't primarily on developing young talent for Aprilia."
"It's always thrilling, and when it's successful, you discover amazing talent…[However], we aim to continuously search for even better outcomes."
Brivio and Trackhouse might set their sights on notable figures such as Joan Mir from Repsol Honda and Alex Rins from Monster Yamaha, two riders Brivio originally recruited as newcomers for Suzuki's official team.
Rins secured victories in five races aboard the GSX-RR, notably claiming triumph in Suzuki's final Grand Prix showing in Valencia 2022, whereas Mir clinched the world championship title in 2020.
