**Miguel Oliveira Prepares for Pramac Yamaha Challenge with Eyes Wide Open, Drawing on Tech3 KTM and RNF/Trackhouse Aprilia Insights**
Miguel Oliveira: "I am fully aware of what to expect" at Pramac Yamaha
Miguel Oliveira, who has previously ridden for Tech3 KTM and RNF/Trackhouse Aprilia, is well-prepared for his new venture with Pramac Yamaha.
Having been part of new factory-satellite MotoGP collaborations at Tech3 KTM and RNF/Trackhouse Aprilia, Miguel Oliveira says he is well-prepared for what awaits him at Pramac Yamaha next season.
In 2019, Oliveira entered MotoGP by partnering with Tech3, which marked the inaugural year for a KTM-supported satellite team.
In 2020, Oliveira secured victories for Tech3 and then for the main Red Bull team. History repeated itself when he joined Aprilia's new satellite team, RNF, in 2023. This season, RNF has been rebranded as Trackhouse.
Currently, Yamaha is facing one of its most challenging seasons in the MotoGP era, having failed to secure any podium finishes, with former world champion Fabio Quartararo sitting in 15th place in the rankings.
Oliveira mentioned that he had a conversation with Quartararo, who is his 'motorhome neighbor', regarding the existing challenges with the M1 prior to committing to the deal.
Miguel Oliveira mentioned that he converses more frequently with Fabio Quartararo compared to Alex Rins. This is primarily because Fabio is his motorhome neighbor, allowing them to see each other more often. Oliveira added that Fabio confides in him about his frustrations, which he can relate to at the moment.
"I believe I joined two teams in a manner similar to how we are currently collaborating with Yamaha. Initially, this occurred when KTM began providing support to Tech3 for the first time. Additionally, it happened when Aprilia first partnered with Trackhouse [RNF]."
"I am fully aware of the challenges I will face."
Oliveira is aware that quick fixes are improbable.
"The duration will be determined by how quickly Yamaha can respond and bring everything to the track."
The technical challenges we are facing now will likely persist next year. However, with input from two satellite riders, I'm confident we will find a solution.
“I believe my ability to adapt is pretty strong after working with two distinct manufacturers,” he stated.
"I'm cycling in a completely new manner compared to how I did two years back, and I believe this will definitely aid in providing feedback and speeding up progress."
"Being associated with a secondary factory team like Pramac excites me tremendously, and I'm eager to begin."
At present, being in the lowest concessions category allows Yamaha, similar to Honda, to engage in private testing sessions with their race riders.
The Portuguese rider is pleased to join in on these excursions between races next year, as he finds that "spending more time on the bike is always enjoyable."
"The amount of time we need to invest in testing will vary based on the current phase of the project. At this stage, we definitely need to dedicate a significant amount of time to testing. Consequently, our expectations for race weekends will likely remain modest."
"I wish that we begin reducing the concessions and that the testing ends sooner than anticipated."
Declaring his readiness to put in the effort, Oliveira admitted that the journey ahead would be challenging. He affirmed, "We will get there eventually. We are discussing one of the most powerful manufacturers in the entire paddock."
“After they make a decision and dedicate themselves to it, it's only a matter of time before they accomplish it."
"Yamaha is eager to return to the forefront without further delay."
Oliveira enters the Misano MotoGP this weekend positioned 13th in the world championship standings. His top performances this season include a second-place finish in a Sprint race and a sixth-place finish in a Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.
