Mercedes CEO Fuels Speculation: Max Verstappen Eyeing Silver Move Amidst Turmoil?
‘He’d look good in silver’ – Mercedes CEO ignites further speculation about Max Verstappen
A prominent Mercedes executive has fueled additional rumors regarding Max Verstappen potentially joining the team.
Ola Kallenius, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz, has fueled additional speculation regarding a possible transfer for Max Verstappen.
Although Verstappen is under contract until 2028, his future has been widely debated this year.
In the midst of controversies surrounding Christian Horner and various issues away from the track, there are rumors that Verstappen might transfer to Mercedes.
Toto Wolff has openly expressed his wish to recruit Verstappen.
A significant element that might attract Verstappen is Mercedes' recent progress, along with news suggesting that they will possess the most powerful engine in 2026 when the new regulations come into effect.
Kallenius, Mercedes' top executive, has spoken about the speculations surrounding Verstappen.
In an interview with Sky Sports Germany, he mentioned, "The top driver aims to have the finest car. It's our responsibility to assemble the ultimate package."
"In 2026, the rules will change and everything will be reorganized. This presents a new chance. The future is uncertain."
"Don't you think Max would look great in silver?"
Over the Spanish Grand Prix weekend, Wolff stated that Mercedes has not engaged in discussions with Verstappen.
Numerous reports suggest that Italian sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli is set to join George Russell as his teammate in 2025.
Antonelli is regarded as the 'next Verstappen', showcasing remarkable talent during his time in the junior categories.
Despite his FIA Formula 2 season not progressing as anticipated for a title pursuit, largely because of Prema's subpar performance, Antonelli has still managed to outperform his well-regarded teammate Oliver Bearman.
Bearman, currently positioned outside the top 10 in the F2 rankings, is anticipated to join Haas as a full-time driver in 2025.
