Max Verstappen Dismisses Allegations of Red Bull Tension Amid Recent Performance Dip
Max Verstappen dismisses reports of "tension" at Red Bull following a drop in performance
Max Verstappen has denied allegations of internal "tension" within the Red Bull team.
Max Verstappen has denied claims of any "tension" within the Red Bull team after their recent decline in F1 performance.
Despite winning six out of the first nine races, Verstappen has put in considerable effort in recent events.
It could be argued that Red Bull hasn't had the fastest car in recent races, as McLaren and Ferrari have both improved their performance.
Even in Canada, especially during dry conditions, it appeared that George Russell's Mercedes was the fastest on race day.
Max Verstappen maintains a substantial advantage in the championship standings after Charles Leclerc failed to finish in the previous race.
Speaking to the media, including Crash.net, in Barcelona, Verstappen clarified that any perceived “tension” is a misinterpretation and that it's merely Red Bull's drive for success.
“There’s no stress involved. We constantly strive for excellence, fully aware that others are giving their all as well,” Verstappen explained.
"We simply need to aim for a successful weekend as usual. If things don't go as expected, let's not overreact. Instead, we'll continue to put in the effort and strive for improvement."
“There are still numerous races left where we can earn a significant number of points. However, we are particularly focused on performing strongly here.”
Numerous racers, among them Leclerc, anticipate that Red Bull will regain their superior performance from the beginning of the season.
Given that the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is smooth and lacking in significant bumps and kerbs, it is anticipated to be favorable for Red Bull.
Yet, Verstappen is still doubtful that Red Bull's lead over the other teams will be as significant as it was at the beginning of the year.
He stated that he doesn't believe it will be similar to the start of the season. However, he mentioned that their car is generally better suited to this track, and they are naturally enthusiastic about it.
"Naturally, I know that everyone has been making significant progress and feeling pretty assured. However, if you look at our recent races, this venue seems more favorable."
