Marquez Masters Aragon MotoGP with Dominant Victory as Bagnaia Collides and Crashes Out
Marc Marquez showcased his supremacy by leading from start to finish in the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended in a collision with Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix for MotoGP, Marc Marquez secured his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving it in a highly commanding manner.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased outstanding speed and ultimately triumphed, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash during a collision with Alex Marquez, who also fell during the incident.
Bagnaia was making significant progress through the pack, having initially lost traction with his rear tyre on the less clean side of the starting grid. He found himself in seventh position at the outset, moving up to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's fall, then to fifth as Franco Morbidelli went off track, and eventually into fourth place after pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error at turn 16.
After several circuits, the pursuit was to overtake Marques, who deviated off course at turn 12, which opened an opportunity for Bagnaia to take the lead into turn 13. However, during the maneuver into turn 13, Bagnaia and Marquez collided and both were brought down.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical facility, however, there has been no release of information regarding his state.
The collision between them elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though he was nearly 15 seconds away from the leader.
Brad Binder secured the fourth spot, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth despite beginning from the 14th position. Franco Morbidelli finished in sixth place, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales opted to withdraw from the race as well.
After the race, probes were initiated concerning Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez due to issues with the pressure of their front tires.
