Marc Marquez Teases 2025 MotoGP Moves Amid Ducati, Aprilia, and KTM Rumors: A Chess Game on Two Wheels
Pramac, Aprilia, KTM? Marc Marquez teases future possibilities for 2025
"I'm clear on my initial choice. I've always been smart. Smart before, and smart for the upcoming year."
Marc Marquez faced intense questioning on whether he would agree to ride a factory bike for a satellite Ducati squad.
This weekend's MotoGP event in Catalunya serves as the final opportunity for riders to showcase their skills on the circuit before Ducati confirms their roster for the 2025 MotoGP season at Mugello the following week.
Gresini's Marquez and Pramac's Jorge Martin are contenders for Enea Bastianini's official Ducati position.
However, Marquez appeared to relax his requirements during the Le Mans event, suggesting that a bike model for 2025 would be acceptable, regardless of which team he ends up with.
This apparently paved the way for Pramac, who operate official Ducati motorcycles. Alternatively, Gresini, should they manage to persuade Ducati to supply them with a current model bike.
In Barcelona, when asked if he would be open to joining a satellite team next year provided the motorcycle was of factory quality, Marquez responded.
He responded, "There's been a slight shift in my circumstances from the previous year. This year, my focus was on enjoying myself. Gradually, I'm returning to a strong form, which is significant.
"If you're aiming to compete for a title, you have the opportunity to do so this season. However, having a smoother experience on the circuit can be advantageous. Thus, every competitor seeks the optimal conditions."
"I'm aware of my initial concept. I am highly intelligent. Intelligent before, intelligent in the future, regarding my necessary actions. The actions necessary for my speed."
"I'll aim to excel on the track to increase my opportunities."
Marquez was explicitly requested to verify his top preference.
However, he declined and responded, "To have speed on the racetrack and to remain near these two individuals [Bagnaia and Martin].
"These are the athletes who vied for the title last year. They are the most formidable competitors present."
When questioned about the possibility of signing with Aprilia or KTM for the upcoming season, should they not secure a position with Ducati's main team, Marquez and Martin provided their insights.
Marquez stated, "The manufacturers from Europe are performing well."
"In my opinion, the Ducati stands out as the top choice. It's the one that holds the most promise across every circuit.
"Thus, in the previous year, I decided to go with Ducati and Gresini as I was in search of the top-performing motorcycle."
"Aprilia and KTM are increasingly drawing near."
"Maverick demonstrated that victory in races is possible. Last year, Aleix secured a win here at Montmelo."
Marc Marquez identifies a major flaw
Marquez has hinted before that he lacks a crucial element this season to mount a title bid.
He trails the championship frontrunner Martin by 40 points as they head into the sixth round.
Marquez highlighted the lacai-allcreator.com">king element, stating, "The steadiness in the performances of both Bagnaia and Martin."
"In every practice and qualifying session, they consistently rank among the top three or five. While I am quick and can compete – having nearly matched their pace in Jerez and Le Mans – I must achieve more consistent results."
"It appears that the new bike will give us an advantage on extended turns."
Marquez commented on the Barcelona track, stating, "It wasn't great, but I consistently outperformed the other Honda riders."
"I'm eager to learn the ropes of handling a Ducati in this place.
"A standout aspect of my riding technique is the ability to halt and then swiftly proceed. However, in this instance, it's more about smooth continuity. I've got the metrics for comparison."
