**Leclerc Cautions Ferrari Fans: Recent Upgrades Not Enough for Consistent Wins, Urges Realistic Expectations**
Charles Leclerc cautions that Ferrari's recent improvements are insufficient for consistent victories for the remainder of the season.
"Is it sufficient to secure wins for the rest of the season? I don't believe so, but we've definitely made significant progress."
Charles Leclerc has issued a cautionary note, stating that Ferrari must enhance their performance to consistently compete with McLaren for the rest of the 2024 F1 season.
Leclerc secured his second win of the season by utilizing a one-stop strategy, allowing him to surpass McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Prior to Piastri's second pit stop, Leclerc trailed by five seconds, underscoring McLaren's dominance at Monza with the fastest car.
Ferrari launched a major update for the Italian Grand Prix, focusing on resolving their issues with car bouncing.
During the FIA press conference following the race at Monza, Leclerc advised Ferrari to exercise caution.
"We need to be careful," he stated. "Following Monaco, I believe we've experienced the four toughest races of the season, as Monaco was uniquely suited to our car back then. Monza is another track with its own unique characteristics."
“There were many straight sections and fewer curves. We had a rear wing specifically designed for this track, which contributed to our victory today. Additionally, we had another upgrade that I believe closed the gap with McLaren, but I don't think it will make us the dominant car for the rest of the season on different tracks.”
"We still have considerable work ahead of us, but I'm very pleased to have achieved this in Italy."
Although Leclerc has faced challenges since the Monaco race, he is only 24 points behind Norris in the drivers' standings.
In the constructors' championship, Ferrari is trailing Red Bull by only 39 points.
However, Leclerc has tempered expectations, referring to similar discussions about a championship bid after his victory in Monaco.
“Our performance has been impressive this weekend, but Baku is likely to present a completely different challenge, and Singapore will be different again. Therefore, we need to start fresh. We already made adjustments moving from Monaco to Montreal, and as evidenced by the significant differences between those two weekends, the changes can be substantial.”
"We then experienced three or four of the toughest races of the season as we tried to figure out the issues with our car. I’m hopeful we won’t have to endure another series of challenging races moving forward, and I believe that won't happen."
"However, it is crucial that both the team and external expectations remain grounded and don't escalate unrealistically from one race to the next."
"Have we made progress? Yes. Is it sufficient to start winning races for the rest of the season? Not quite yet, but it's certainly a positive move."
