Jos Verstappen Alleges Christian Horner Blocked His Participation in Austrian GP Legends Parade
Jos Verstappen alleges that Christian Horner prevented him from participating in the Legends Parade at the Austrian Grand Prix. The former Formula 1 driver says the Red Bull team principal blocked his involvement in the event.
Jos Verstappen, father of Max Verstappen, has alleged that Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull, prevented him from participating in the Legends Parade at the F1 Austrian Grand Prix this weekend.
Max Verstappen was set to take the wheel of Red Bull’s RB8, the car that Sebastian Vettel used to win his third world championship in 2012, on Sunday at the Red Bull Ring.
Gerhard Berger, David Coulthard, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Johnny Herbert are set to join the parade, honoring "legendary F1 drivers and iconic F1 cars that have triumphed at the Austrian Grand Prix in the last 50 years."
The parade is scheduled for 12:30 on Sunday, preceding this year's Austrian Grand Prix.
"Recently, I've been informed from multiple sources that Christian Horner has made every effort to prevent me from racing," Verstappen shared with the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
"Additionally, ensure that no recordings are made. My preference would be for you to address me directly. I find this indirect approach quite disheartening."
According to De Telegraaf, the connection between Jos Verstappen and team leader Christian Horner has become less friendly.
The duo seemed to engage in an intense disagreement in the Bahrain paddock during the first race of the season in March.
At the time, Verstappen Sr cautioned that Red Bull could face significant internal conflict if Horner remained in his position as team principal after accusations were leveled against him by a female staff member.
Horner consistently refuted the allegations and was exonerated, allowing him to retain his position.
