Ineos enthüllt fünf kühne Grenadier-Prototypen in Goodwood: Der Geländewagen der Zukunft?
Ineos unveils five bold Grenadier models at Goodwood
Is this what the off-road vehicle of tomorrow looks like? Ineos believes so
The Ineos Grenadier is touted as the premier off-road vehicle. At this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, a number of prototype models were showcased to demonstrate its adaptability and versatility. The British brand envisions creating a multitude of diverse models based on the Grenadier's ladder-frame structure in the future.
Among the showcased vehicles were the Grenadier Quartermaster and a Grenadier Station Wagon outfitted with portal axles from the German supplier LeTech, designed to increase ground clearance and water fording capability. The enhancements include a raised chassis and larger off-road tires, boosting the ground clearance to 514 millimeters and the water fording depth to 1,050 millimeters.
Ineos engineers have also developed another prototype known as the Quartermaster Pick-up, which has a shorter bed and is sometimes referred to as the "Shortermaster." This pick-up is derived from the standard Grenadier Station Wagon, but it features a reduced wheelbase by 305 millimeters. The rear seats have been repositioned forward to maximize the cargo bed capacity.
The showstopper is the Grenadier V8, a brainchild of the technical trainees at Ineos's partner, Magna. This prototype is equipped with a GM 6.2-liter V8 petrol engine, which takes the place of the original BMW 3.0-liter inline-six engine. The alterations involved a complete revamping of engine mounts, motor electrical and electronic systems, as well as the cooling and exhaust systems. It's a development that might just give the Mercedes-AMG G 63 a run for its money.
Another prototype that catches the eye, for those inclined to see it in a positive light, is the eight-seater Safari Grenadier, which has undergone modifications by Ineos Kavango in Botswana. This particular model has been tailored for wildlife viewing, featuring three tiered rows of seats designed to provide an unobstructed view for all passengers. Moreover, the vehicle is equipped with custom protective bars and unique alloy wheels fitted with off-road tires.
Finally, Buzz Special Vehicles has unveiled the first rally-ready Grenadier that meets FIA standards. This prototype is designed to compete in the 2025 Rally-Raid World Championship and features an upgraded version of the standard BMW 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine. Enhancements include a sports exhaust system, a race-grade suspension, more robust brakes, and specially designed alloy wheels. The interior has been simplified and comes with a roll cage and racing bucket seats.
Ineos Automotive's chief executive, Lynn Calder, highlighted the adaptability of the Grenadier's chassis design and revealed plans for new advancements in upcoming products, including limited edition models. The latest brand campaign emphasizes the Grenadier's "Built for More" ethos, with future years set to demonstrate the full implication of this slogan. Meanwhile, the launch of the all-electric Fusilier, initially slated for 2027, has been postponed indefinitely.
