Hamilton Stands Firm on Ferrari Move Despite Mercedes’ Resurgence
Lewis Hamilton: Progress at Mercedes “doesn’t make me reconsider” switch to Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton stands by his choice to move from Mercedes to Ferrari without any second thoughts.
Lewis Hamilton stands by his choice to switch from Mercedes to Ferrari, even though his former team has recently demonstrated significant improvements in F1 competitions.
Mercedes surpassed Ferrari's performance for the second consecutive race at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.
Hamilton achieved his first podium finish of the season by coming in third place, just ahead of his Mercedes teammate George Russell.
Ferrari's drivers secured fifth and sixth places in Barcelona.
Lately, Mercedes has seen significant enhancement as several of their updates have taken effect right away.
On the other hand, despite Ferrari's efforts to introduce new improvements to their vehicle, they haven't made significant progress.
Hamilton stands by his choice to switch to Ferrari for the upcoming year.
“Absolutely not. To start with, I have a deep love for Mercedes,” he expressed. “I’ve been associated with Mercedes since I was 13, and I will forever be a fan and supporter of the brand. My current role this year is to collaborate as diligently as possible with my team and the staff at the factory to push and enhance the car’s development in the right direction.”
In the end, regardless of the path and direction the team takes next year, I hope I've contributed to some successes that I can take pride in. My new role will begin next year with another team that I believe is performing exceptionally well.
"They've faced some challenging races recently, but let's remember they secured a victory in Monaco. I can't specify what issues their car might have or why they're currently where they are."
"However, they did introduce an improvement here, and I believe they are certainly making progress. Still, it doesn’t make me reconsider my choice in any way."
Hamilton anticipates that Mercedes must implement additional improvements to effectively compete with Max Verstappen and Lando Norris in the future.
"No, I believe that's the current limit," he stated. "However, we are constantly making minor adjustments. We keep refining it continuously throughout the year."
"But we need to add some additional components to be able to match up with our competitors."
