Hamilton Eyes Austrian GP Podium After Crucial Mercedes Upgrades: ‘Hunting for the Podium
Lewis Hamilton is aiming for a podium finish at the Austrian Grand Prix after making adjustments to his car. "We've modified the car, so I'm optimistic that it will perform better in terms of race pace tomorrow," he said.
Lewis Hamilton, who has won the F1 world championship seven times, disclosed that Mercedes introduced major modifications to their car before the Austrian Grand Prix qualifying session.
Hamilton claimed the fifth spot on the starting grid at the Red Bull Ring, finishing less than a tenth of a second behind his Mercedes teammate, George Russell, who secured third
Mercedes delivered a solid performance, maintaining its position as the third quickest team in Formula 1, trailing only Red Bull and McLaren.
Hamilton was pleased with the improvements Mercedes achieved before qualifying but wasn't fully satisfied with his performance in the final Q3 session.
"We improved the car's balance," he mentioned. "I should have likely begun the weekend with this setup, but it was fine overall."
“The final lap was quite good. The middle section, however, was slightly slower.
"All things considered, it was okay."
Hamilton believes that alterations to the setup will enhance his subpar race pace from the sprint, and he is aiming for a potential podium finish.
He mentioned that his speed during the race this morning was quite lacking. He also noted that adjustments have been made to the car, and he is optimistic that the vehicle's race pace will improve tomorrow.
"We've increased the size of the rear wing. I hope this allows us to put more pressure on the Ferraris and aim for a podium finish."
"I need to overtake the Ferrari right away."
