**Esteban Ocon Eyes Quick Resolution for 2025 F1 Seat Amid Deep Talks and Uncertainty**
Unemployed Esteban Ocon provides an update on his "choices" and "main focus" for a 2025 ride
"With any luck, it will be resolved shortly and made public"
Esteban Ocon is optimistic that his 2025 Formula 1 seat will be confirmed soon, though he did not specify his potential team.
Alpine has announced that Ocon will leave the team at the conclusion of this year, as his contract will come to an end.
However, he disclosed prior to this weekend's Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix that negotiations regarding his future plans are well underway.
"We are currently engaged in in-depth discussions," stated Ocon.
"Talks are progressing smoothly, and right now I feel optimistic about what's ahead. I hope everything will be resolved and made public shortly."
"Yes, I feel sure about it, but as you mentioned, it's not final until the agreement is signed…"
The teams that have an open spot in their driver roster for the 2025 Formula 1 season include Williams, Haas, Red Bull, and Sauber.
Ocon previously lost his position in an F1 team in 2018 when he was with Force India.
He explained that he had been optimistic at the close of 2018, but various factors prevented things from going as planned.
“However, we are familiar with that situation.”
Ocon asserts that being dropped by Force India has made him more proactive following Alpine's decision to not extend his contract beyond 2025.
“Absolutely, I definitely don't want to go through that experience again,” he stated.
"Currently, things are progressing positively. There are many in-depth discussions happening, and we hope to have everything resolved shortly."
"Indeed, various options exist, but I will refrain from indicating which one is prioritized."
Ocon is now among a group of drivers, including Carlos Sainz, Guanyu Zhou, Daniel Ricciardo, and Valtteri Bottas, who face uncertain futures in Formula 1.
All of them are competing for the same few available seats, assuming that Sainz, who won a grand prix last year and again this season, has the best options to choose from.
Ocon responded by saying that the market has always been quite peculiar and never simple.
"There have always been multiple reasons, not just related to performance; numerous factors have been at play."
"I wouldn't say it's my favorite topic to discuss; I much prefer competing on the track. However, it's a significant matter for us."
Discussing driver market matters in Formula 1 has always seemed rather trivial.
"It's fascinating to hear the perspectives of top-tier individuals on a variety of topics, but ultimately, the focus remains largely on performance—though not exclusively—so I remain optimistic about that."
During this year's Monaco Grand Prix, there was a collision between Ocon and his teammate Pierre Gasly, much to the frustration of their team.
Soon after, Alpine announced that they would not renew Ocon’s contract, which is coming to an end. Gasly has signed a fresh agreement with the team.
Flavio Briatore has joined Alpine as an advisor, a team that faced significant difficulties at the beginning of the season but managed to secure ninth and tenth places in Barcelona last weekend.
