Electrifying the Race: How Formula E’s FanBoost Gives Power to the People
Explanation of Formula E 'fan boost'
Viewers will have the opportunity to cast their votes to determine which three racers will be granted an extra burst of speed in FIA Formula E competitions, as the series aims to enhance audience engagement in the event.
Named 'FanBoost', this system allows audience members to cast one or more votes for their favorite racers in each competition. The top three drivers with the highest number of votes will gain a power boost, elevating their performance from 133kw (180bhp) to 200kw (270bhp), specifically designed to enhance their overtaking capabilities.
Designed to empower supporters to have more influence over the race and assist their preferred racers, individuals can cast their votes through the official Formula E website (receiving one vote) and through the upcoming app (which will allow for five votes).
The window for casting votes commences immediately after the conclusion of the preceding race and remains open until the beginning of the race in question, at which point the top three drivers are revealed.
FanBoost represents one of the many innovative features introduced in the upcoming all-electric Formula E series, set to begin on September 13th in Beijing. This series will also introduce a one-day race format, races primarily located in urban centers, and an extensive entertainment program to enhance the racing experience.
