Valencia to Debut as E-Prix Host Amid Formula E’s Adjusted 2021 Season Schedule
Valencia is set to welcome its inaugural E-Prix event in April, as the Formula E world championship announces its upcoming series of races for the 2021 season.
FE had to adjust its season seven schedule after the back-to-back races in Santiago were delayed in December due to the swift emergence of a new COVID-19 variant.
The fully electric racing series has confirmed that its two scheduled night races in Saudi Arabia will proceed as planned at the end of next month, with the season's first race set for February 26-27.
On Thursday, FE revealed the upcoming schedule of seven races, marking the inaugural competitive event in Valencia and the rearranged back-to-back races in Chile.
After a break during which no races were held in March, the 2021 season is set to resume on April 10 with the Rome E-Prix, marking Italy's comeback to the schedule for the first time since 2019. This will be followed by Valencia hosting its inaugural E-Prix on April 24.
The Ricardo Tormo Circuit has been the venue for pre-season trials over the last three years. However, the upcoming Spanish race will be held on a newly designed track layout specifically created for Formula E. This event marks the first occasion the series will compete on a fixed circuit.
Amid uncertainties about the feasibility of conducting the Monaco E-Prix during the pandemic, the event has received approval to proceed on May 8, enhancing the prospects of successfully hosting the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix later in the month. This marks the fourth occurrence of the biennial race in the Principality.
FE is set to travel to Morocco for the fifth edition of the Marrakesh E-Prix scheduled for May 22, followed by the seventh and eighth rounds happening in Santiago on June 5-6.
The Sanya and the first-ever Seoul E-Prix races have been delayed, with a conclusive verdict on these events expected once the rest of the season's schedule is disclosed in the early part of spring.

Due to prevailing health and safety concerns, hosting a race in Paris has become impractical, shifting the focus towards reintegrating France into the Formula E schedule for its eighth season.
FE stated that it will "maintain vigilance over the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and remains in continuous dialogue with its network of teams, manufacturers, partners, broadcasters, and host cities."
Updates to the schedule are contingent upon travel limitations, regulations set by local authorities, and must receive the green light from the FIA World Motor Sport Council.
