Di Grassi has faced a challenging beginning to the season, unable to earn any points in the first three races due to several reliability problems with the Audi team.
In an interview with Crash.net after the final race in Marrakesh, the Brazilian driver acknowledged that his bid to retain his title was becoming increasingly difficult, especially after receiving a further grid penalty in Santiago, which added to his challenges.
Officials in Santiago have announced that di Grassi will be penalized with a 10-position grid penalty due to the replacement of his car's inverter. This comes after he had already utilized his allowable one-time change, known as the 'joker', during the previous race in Marrakesh after experiencing a problem during the qualifying session.
"Allan McNish, the team principal for Audi, stated that they resolved the challenges they faced in Marrakesh."
"We replicated the issue using our testing setup, however, the component is protected under FIA regulations, preventing us from addressing it without facing a sanction."
